Data sources

Home​

The Home of Data sources are quite similar to the one of tables

Fields​

  • Name: name of the field (contains the view name)
  • Description (from Tableau)
  • Role & Type: Data source fields are either "dimensions" or "measures" & nature of the field (ex. string, integer, etc)

Details​

At the right, the Details menu summarizes key attributes of the selected Data sources. It is visible from all tabs

  • Verified: Admins can mark a Data sources as verified to indicate documentation has been reviewed
  • Favorites: Users can mark Data sources as favorites
  • Dashboard button: link to Data sources
  • Owners: a user can be assigned as the owner of an Data sources
  • Popularity: computed based on the number of views
  • Description: short description of the Data sources
  • Tags: tags can be used to describe Data sources. They are common for all users of a company.
  • Source: always Tableau for a Data sources

Pinned Assets​

You can link Data sources to other assets

Lineage​

A Data source can be related to:

  • its parent tables (or even source table)
  • its children workbooks

Field lineage to identigy the parent columns of Data sources fields is coming very soon!

Comments​

To easily collaborate and communicate between users, each Data source has a Comments section.

History​

A log of changes is kept under the History tab.
