Looker Explores
Home
The Home of explores are quite similar to the one of tables

Fields are described by:
- Name: name of the field (contains the view name)
- Description (from Looker)
- Role: Explore fields are either "dimensions" or "measures"
- Type: nature of the field (ex. string, integer, etc)
Details
At the right, the Details menu summarises key attributes of the selected Explore. It is visible from all tabs

- Certified: Admins can mark a dashboard as certified to indicate documentation has been reviewed ✅
- Deprecated: Admins can mark a dashboard as deprecated to prevent users from using it ⚠️
- Favorites: Users can mark Explores as favorites
- Dashboard button: link to Explore
- Owners: a user can be assigned as the owner of an Explore
- Popularity: computed based on the number of views
- Description: short description of the Explore
- Tags: tags can be used to describe Explores. They are common for all users of a company.
- Source: always Looker for an Explore

The section is a rich text to enable custom formatting. To be able to see rich text options, simply select a portion of text
Lineage
Lineage graphs show you:
- the link between Explore and their related tables and dashboards
You can also look at the lists of:
- Sources: travel up the lineage to its peak
- Parents: tables used to create this Explore
- Children: dashboards leveraging this Explore

Comments
To easily collaborate and communicate between users, each Explore has a Comments section.

History
A log of changes is kept under the History tab:
