Sync Back to Looker (Beta)

Push descriptions from the Catalog back to your Looker dashboards.

Requirement​

Catalog-Managed Looker Required

You need a Catalog managed Looker integration to push back information to it.

How To​

On your Integration tab (in Settings), click on the Sync back to Looker button.

The list of available Sync back depends on which technologies you are already integrated with in Castor

What Can You Sync Back to Looker?​

Within our Looker Sync back feature, you can push back a description to your dashboards in Looker.

  1. Write as many dashboard descriptions as you want into the Catalog.
  2. Request a Sync back to Looker in your Settings > Integration tab.
  3. Once notified that the Sync back succeeded, your descriptions are in Looker.
Character Limit

Looker descriptions are limited to 255 characters.

What Happens If a Description Already Exists in Looker?​

  • Catalog will not overwrite any existing description.
  • You can write and store another description in the Catalog however.
  • Once you decide to delete the existing description in Looker, the Sync back will be able to push the description you wrote in the Catalog to Looker.

Do You Need To Provide Additional Access?​

The level of permission of the existing integration remains unchanged.
