Tags

Tags are a common yet powerful way to identify and group your assets together.

You can create different types of tags (by using the semicolon symbol, for example tag_type:tag_name):

  • Domain (and subdomain) tags to identify the assets used by a given domain, or what domains are making use of a given asset
  • Data classification tags to highlight where PII or confidential information is stored
  • Deployment stage tags to highlight things that are in development, production, or UAT

How To Use Tags

  • To create a tag, click the ⊕ sign next to tags, type your tag, and select the create a new tag button.
  • Alternatively, admins and data stewards can create and manage tags directly in the Tag Manager tab in the Governance section.

Tips

  • For the purpose of grouping and identifying knowledge or documentation, we recommend creating domain tags (see Knowledge pages): a tag for the first level in your domain hierarchy.
  • Use the domain tags to mark those assets that are being used by a given domain. An asset can have, and most likely will have, more than one domain tag.
  • Similarly you can create team tags or data product tags. Try not to have more than 30 tags per tag type, as that will make it difficult for users to remember the values they would need to use.
